Then & Now VII - Saskatoon photographers

This next session of my 'Then & Now' series is from an engagement session.  Both are.  The first is kind of special to me.  These are some of my besties.  He was the best man in our wedding and she was one of my bridesmaids.  It's kinda crazy to see this image again.  They both look so young.  I still do love this image, because he is making her laugh, like really laugh.  I would say this is definitely an oldie, but a goodie!

This 'Now' image is from an e-session I did last spring.  Again, he is making her LOL, and I'm loving every minute of it.  If only I remembered what was so funny:).

Cudworth farm - Saskatoon photographers, Cudworth photographers

I started taking on extended families last fall and I'm loving them!  If you are getting together over the Easter holidays, I still have a few availabilities.  I would love to meet your crazy family:).

I met this family a couple of years ago, where I shot the youngest son's weddings.  Now they have a baby, and a huge extended family.  I made the trek out to Cudworth to the family farm to photograph them last fall.  They were a hoot!  (Does anyone say 'Hoot' anymore?  LOL).  Anyway, the photos speak for themselves.  They were so nice.  It was a pleasure to have them all in front of my camera again:).

Sara's fight - Saskatoon Photographers

"I heard the doctor say Cancer, and everything went blank.  I didn't hear anything else he said after that".  The words every mother doesn't ever want to hear, especially when it comes to their children.

Meet Sara.  She is a sweet, timid, kind, playful little 3 year old girl.  She was just like any other 3 year old, who loves to play and dress up.  When her mom found a few red spots on her body one morning, she was concerned.  A couple of days later, the red spots were covering her entire body and she was covered in bruises.  "I knew something was wrong", said Sara's mom, who followed her gut feeling, and took her in right away.  After several tests were done back in December, 3 year old Sara, was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Sara won a contest we had with our princess sessions.  A client of mine purchased a session for a little girl who might not otherwise be able to afford to get professional photos done.  We got a few nominations, and after reading her story, I knew that this was our winner.  In the nomination letter Sara's mothers cousin wrote:  I just want her to have fun for the morning and forget about cancer for a few hours.  And that is just what we did.

The out pouring support of our community continued to flourish.  I had another client purchase her a make up session and lunch after the session.  I called up our friends and Living Skies Limousine service and asked if they would be willing to donate transportation as Sara's mom does not have a vehicle.  They immediately said YES!  So this little princess was able to forget about cancer for the morning, get all dolled up and chauffeured around town.  A huge thank you to everyone who made Sara's day so memorable.

When I asked Sara's mom if I could share her story, she said "Of course".  She said there wasn't a lot of information out there for Leukemia, nor was there any type of support for families who battle this disease.  Her advice to all moms out there:  Always follow your gut.  If you think something is wrong, please take your kids in.

When I called Sara's mom to let her know she had won our contest and she was so excited!  After chatting with her for only a few minutes, I was in tears.  Having a little girl myself, I could not imagine everything this little girl has been through over the last few months.  When her mom told me Sara started loosing her hair due to chemo treatments, she knew she had to shave Sara's head.  Sara was scared about having her head shaved so her mom decided to shave hers first.  After hearing this, again, I was in tears.  I feel so lucky to have met this family and I continue to follow Sara's progress through her mom's facebook page.

This is Sara.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, as she continues her batter with cancer.

Then & Now VI - Saskatoon photographers

Then & Now:  Doing up the gown.

I love to photograph brides getting ready.  There is something so exciting about the anticipation of the day ahead.  This first shot is an example of my second year of photographing weddings.  It does show what is going on, however the second image is totally where my style has gone.

Loving everything about this shot.  From the bridesmaids fussing over the bride, to the dad  holding everyone's flowers.  Best part is no flash required!

Cuddles & Kisses - Saskatoon photographers

We lucked out with a beautiful weekend back in January (I know, its hard to imagine it was nice this winter).  This couple claim they have never been in front of the camera before.  Literately from the first shot, they were so adorable.  They cuddled and kissed and their love was radiant.  Most people need a little more direction with their first time in front of the camera, I kept saying they must have done this before.  As a result, they got way more images than I promise, as I found it a little hard to narrow them down:).  So here they are!  I'm so lucky they found me to photograph their big day in September.  I can't wait to photograph them again!!!
